Richard and Roxy got married at the beautiful (and HOT) Hatchery in Amatikulu one day before their eighth anniversary and 364 days after Rich proposed so you could say the 14th and 15th of March are good days in their lives!
Both these babes are close to my heart, Roxy was one of my bridesmaids and Richard is one of my brothers best friends and colleagues, So this was an extra special wedding for me, full of people I know and love. There was also a sense of pressure as Rich is an amazing photographer himself and I needed to boss around my big brother during the creative shoot, not something I get to do often! You might remember them from their engagement shoot, you can see it here
It was a wedding weekend of relaxing and fun, one of the hottest days I’ve ever photographed on, close family and a culmination of Rich and Rox, both are down to the earth beach people and it showed. The Hatchery was a perfect venue for these two, The bride, Groom and whole bridal party along with a lot of the guests were all barefoot, the reception was a fairy light picnic style wonderland, most people spread out on the floor on a piles of multicoloured rugs and cushions. Dinner was the most delicious build your own burger bar, catered by good friends of ours and married couple Sam and Amy, and the caterers, the photographers and loads of guests ended up in the pool at the end of the wedding.
I have never photographed a wedding where the Groom and his groomsmen’s ‘suits’ came from ripcurl! and I can tell you I love it! This one was definitely one for the books!
In Rich’s speech he said “during the planning stages we realised that guest don’t like multiple day weddings or weddings that are far away so welcome to our two day wedding in the middle of nowhere!” and as much as this is true every single person was happy to be there, to finally witness Richard and Roxy get married, myself included (I may have had a small drizz
behind my camera during the ceremony) out of the 45 guest that were in attendance there were people from The United Kingdom. Bermuda and a few local South Africans which just shows you how close this group of people are.
Rich, Rox, I love you both so much and I am so honoured to have photographed your wedding. I wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness! Thank you for picking me and trusting me!
